The SPL Makerspace will be launching soon!
Drop-in from 12:00pm - 4:00pm for the Makerspace Grand Opening at the Shrewsbury Public Library! Appointments for Trained Maker machines will begin on December 2nd. All Makers times will begin on December 6th.

The SPL Learning Lab Makerspace can be found on the second floor of the library, with making programs occurring throughout the library. Check out the calendar below for making programs at the library. Keep up with the Makerspace by signing up for our email list here
Using the Makerspace
The SPL Learning Lab Makerspace facilitates creative exploration, collaboration, experimentation and failure, in the pursuit of knowledge in a safe and inclusive space for all. Users of the Makerspace are given the opportunity to engage with new tools and software to learn or hone skills and ignite creative expression. All Makerspace users musts adhere to the Makerspace Policy and sign a Waiver, Release of Claims, and Hold Harmless Agreement. Tools in the Makerspace are divided into two categories:
All Makers:Tools available to use during Open Making times and by appointment after completion of a Makerspace orientation. Users 13-16 may use tools designated as "All Makers" under the supervision of a parent or guardian. All Makers tools include:
- Silhouette Cutter
- T-shirt press
- Sewing Machine
- Iron and ironing board
- Serger pre-threaded with grey thread
- General craft supplies, including tools for cutting, hand sewing, pliers, etc.
- Computer with disc drive, mini SD card drive,
Trained Makers: Tools available to use by appointment after receiving training from Makerspace staff. Training is provided through one-on-one appointments or designated workshops. Trained Makers’ tools are only available to users 16+.

The SPL Learning Lab Makerspace provides access to tools and Making Technology, users of the Makerspace must provide their own materials during Open Making times and during their appointments.
