Spring Into Reading Challenge
Put some spring in your step and dive into reading! Track your reading to earn cheerful badges all spring. This challenge runs March 21st-June 20th, 2026 and is open to grades preK-4.
To participate:
- For kids in grades preK-4.
- Create a FREE account through Beanstack.
- Enroll in the Spring Into Reading Challenge. The challenge starts March 21st.
- Log your minutes using the app - you'll get virtual badges!

Massachusetts Children's Book Award
Massachusetts Children’s Book Award invites students in grades 4-6 to read or listen to at least five of the twenty-five nominated books and vote for their favorite! You may either vote here or grab a voting sheet from the Children's Room, circle your favorite, and place the paper in the submission box at the Children’s Circulation Desk.
Votes will be collected until April 1, then shared to the MCBA to choose the winner!
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national challenge to promote early literacy in our youngest readers. For this challenge, families are asked to create an online account for their little readers on Beanstack. Participants then log every book read to that child. Don't forget, the same book can be read more than once and can be logged more than once. For every 100 books logged, children will receive a prize. And don't worry if 1,000 sounds like too many, you'd be surprised how quickly books add up! If you read just 2 books to your child every day, you would finish the challenge in less than 2 years!
To participate:
- Create an account for your child through Beanstack
- Choose the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge
- Log books
- Earn prizes for every 100 books read!
